New World: Tempest Heart Cinematic

Here’s a series of sketches, illustrations & designs that fed into our first 2D Cinematic. We were aiming to establish a compelling art style with a graphic look that utilized expressive brushstrokes to give it a hand-drawn aesthetic. The story involved several main characters (Isabella, Adiana, Thorpe & Russo), some who were introduced for the first time. During the process, I had the opportunity to explore a few ideas to hint at Russo’s sinister side as seen in the examples. Also, textural backdrops & graphic glyphs were created to complement the hand-brushed look to the illustrated elements.
